"Over the Knee" film
I feel kind of strange doing this, but no one ever got anywhere by playing it safe.
I'm a 34 year old movie buff. For fifteen years I've been writing my own screenplays for fun with no real intention of trying to get them made. I'm also a spanko and those two worlds collided two or three years ago and the result is "Over the Knee", my first truly serious script about a young girl struggling to deal with her most secret desire. Here is a brief synopsis:
All quirky, girl-next-door Julie wants is to be spanked. Her home life is a mess, her younger brother is out of control, and no one seems to know she exists. On top of that, her stifling Women's Studies class has her convinced that her desire is borne of some freakish disorder that flies in the face of feminism. In a world that does not understand or accept difference, Julie's greatest and most mysterious desire becomes her darkest secret. But when that secret is inadvertently revealed, a new friend takes Julie on a journey into the heart of what she wants most, a journey of ultimate love and acceptance of self, a journey that becomes truly empowering. With a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor and a lot of heart, the film casts a positive light on a taboo subject that may be more normal than we realize.
To date, "Secretary" and "Fifty Shades of Grey" are the most popular insights into our world that vanillas have and neither one can portray their characters as normal. Lee Holloway was in a mental institution and Christian Grey is a victim of past abuses that have left him with the need to inflict pain. I wanted to tell a story about normal people who want what they want for normal, emotional reasons, so it was important to me in writing this to create strong, independent female characters who know who they are and who make no apologies for it. I've allowed a few women in my life that I deeply trust (all of them vanillas) to read it and they have all found it touching, refreshing, and inspiring.
I'm a member of a social networking site for writers and filmmakers and the response I've received there has been surprisingly enthusiastic. Through that site, I have garnered very high interest from both a producer and an actress and steps are being taken to get it made into an actual film! All we need now is funding, so I've created a gofundme campaign to raise what we can for it. Even if the final goal is not met, any amount donated will be collected and put towards the film. I don't want to sound like I'm begging for money but i kept thinking, what better crowd to help fund this than spankos themselves? Once it's finished, I intend to shop it around to festivals. I for one really like the AJ spanks, and also the Brooke Tessmacher atomic drop one. I really only care about the spankings if the divas react to them, rubbing their butts and the like.
