Thanks for your considered reply. Let's be clear I don't agree with violence either i.e. hitting, punching, whatever. I am totally against that. But surely that is the very reason spanking developed as a punishment? A hard slap on the rear for a specific reason ain't gonna kill anyone but it can correct mibehaviour. Equally a spanking protects the woman's dignity because by its very nature the of the thing it's not visible. I believe in male-led households; I think it works best and if you ask lots of women outside the liberal middle-class intelligensia they do too. People like Sean Connery have expressed this view publicly too.
When I mentioned a bar etc. I was referring to flirting or where a lady might make a smart comment a quick smack just gives a short sharp shock.
What you say about fantasy v reality has some merit too.But I suppose that's where diverge a little . All of the spankings we see in film etc. are meant to be real or at least have a context art imitates life. So if you can watch a film where an errant wife gets spanking for some indiscretion and think its great but you think an actual husband / partner who spanks his wife/ partner for actual misbehaviour is totally wrong and has no right to do it - well I think that's problematic.
